2 million channels and 51 million videos deleted by YouTube over scams

YouTube is the largest warehouse of videos that has ever existed over internet.

YouTube has all kinds of videos which are being used by people for their benefits. However, in recent times there have been many scams and cyber security threats raised by hackers via YouTube.

YouTube has recently taken a suitable measure to stop malicious actors and their deeds. In a recent report YouTube has reported that it has blocked 1.975 million channels in the first quarter of 2020 (Jan-Mar) wiping out a total of more than 51 million videos from the platform.

Most of these channels were involved in spam related activities which lead to their deletion from the platform. The affected countries by these scams include USA, India, Brazil, Indonesia, and South Korea.

Yet, this is not all. During these months, 693.58 million comments were also removed due to similar reasons with 99.6% of them being identified by the YouTube algorithm. Google has finally decided to take things under control and using this YouTube measure clearly reflects the same.
