Microsoft has issued a latest warning against a new ransomware targeting Android users

A new ransomware locking and hacking android devices has been discovered by Microsoft.

The ransomware was reported to take advantage of incoming call notifications and android home buttons to lock the device. After locking the device the ransomware leaves a ransom note for its target. “MalLocker.B” is the ransomware family that has relations with this newly reported ransomware.

MalLocker has been present in the form of popular apps, cracked games, or video players. The latest reported malware has various security evading techniques and new ways to drop ransom demand in front of the user.

The ransomware shows an incoming call notification which covers the entire screen of device. To quit from the notification user uses the home/recent button on their devices. These buttons are used by the ransomware to launch the ransom note and lock the screen.

The researchers have reported that the ransomware has various obstruction against detection. The researchers have found various inadequate and unnecessary variables and code segments in the source code of ransomware.
