Air India servers were targeted by, hackers leading to compromise of sensitive customer data

Air India has recently confirmed that one of its server was recently targeted by a cyber attack.

A cyber attack has targeted Air India’s SITA PSS server which contained personal information of their customers. The estimated number of affected users is around 45 lakhs.

The resultant data breach involved personal data registered between August 26, 2011 and February 20, 2021. In this attack, details like name, date of birth, contact information, passport details, ticket information, Star Alliance and Air India frequent flyer data as well as credit card data were leaked.

The national carrier received the first information regarding the data breach on February 25, and the identity of the affected data subjects was received on March 25 and April 5.
