REvil ransomware has attacked Acer and demanded the biggest ever ransom amount of $50 million.
Acer is a Taiwan-based computer and electronic manufacturing company that employs thousands of people and has an established name in this sector. The company reported an earning of $7.8 billion in 2019.
The ransomware gang has stated that they have attacked the company and have been successful in stealing various files and data. Hackers have also shared some images of files that they have stolen as proof of the attack.
The leaked images are for documents that include financial spreadsheets, bank balances, and bank communications. Acer has not responded properly to the queries regarding the attack and has stated that the organization is investigating the issue for security purposes.
REvil has demanded the highest ever ransom in the history of ransomware attacks. They have also given proper proof of the attack and REvil has recently targeted a Microsoft Exchange server on Acer’s domain.
