Android ransomware extorts credit card details from users

Ransomware infecting android devices steals credit card details.

Black Rose Lucy found in 2018 is suspected to be the one behind all these attacks. Once Lucy infects a device, it starts by encrypting all the data on it and then displays a ransom note in the browser. The ransom note is attached below:

The ransom note states that the user was found to possess some pornographic content which falls under various criminal offenses. This note also states that the penalty of all these offenses is summed up to be $500.

NPAV recommends users to stop downloading suspicious files from untrusted sources and never trust such ransom notes as these have no credibility.
