The Hermes ransomware, like all other ransomware encrypting the files on your infected computer and appending .HRM extension. The malware also uses advanced encryption in order to render a unique decryption key for each file or set of files.
After encryption the virus leaves behind a ransom note and asks victim to send ransom amount in order to have their files decrypted again.
Below message will appear on your screen after complete encryption.
All your important files will be converted to HRM file. User will be unable to use these files.
It is likely to be distributed using traditional ransomware distribution techniques like Spam Emails, Email Attachments, Executable files etc. So think twice before opening that email attachment sent to you by a anonymous person.
All Users are requested to:
- Install and keep NPAV updated up-to-date.
