Covid-19 vaccine free registration impersonated by a malicious SMS worm

SMS worm impersonating Covid-19 vaccine registration is being circulated by the hackers.

As India sees a surge of Covid-19 cases in the midst of second Covid-19 wave, hackers have started using Covid-19 and related topics to launch various cyber attacks. An android SMS worm was recently reported by cyber security researchers which impersonates itself as a free registration portal for Covid-19 vaccine.

 The SMS contains a link which download a malicious app in targeted user device. The app requests the user for contact access permission so that it can spread wildly and target various individuals.

The malicious intentions and capabilities of the app is still unknown but can easily cause huge menace for its victim. NPAV recommends users to stop trusting these fake and luring free offers and services.
