If your web browser is commonly redirected to tech support scams, advertisements for Chrome extension, unwanted programs, dating sites, or porn sites then you are most likely infected with some sort of malware.
When your browser is being redirected you will see messages such as “Connecting to“, “Waiting for“, “Transferring from“, or “Processing request” in the browser status bar as shown in the image above. Also many times the site performing the redirect will have the word redirect in the URL in the browser’s address bar.
Web Browser Redirects are typically causes by adware programs or unwanted browser extensions and addons. These types of programs are either installed manually or are bundled with free programs that you download from the Internet. These free programs include “offers” that install unwanted programs that modify your web browser’s behavior.
As you can see, web browser redirects can be annoying and intrusive while trying to use your web browser.
