Ransomware attack targeted on Apple’s supplier Foxconn Technology

Hackers have targeted Apple supplier Foxconn with a ransomware campaign demanding $34 million.

One of the established and famous electronic giants “Foxconn”, has become the latest target of a ransomware campaign. Foxconn manufactures iPhones for Apple and various other famous electronic devices.

The ransomware attack occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend and the attackers managed to steal the unencrypted files. According to the report, the hackers claimed to have encrypted over 1,000 servers at Foxconn North America and stolen 100 GB of data.

Foxconn has confirmed the attack that was made on one of its facilities. Foxconn has recently stated that the internet connection in their affected facility has gradually returned to normal. The organization has also upgraded its information security measures.

As per reports, the attackers demanded $34 million to be paid in bitcoin. In the ransom note, attackers added a link to Foxconn’s victim page on DoppelPaymer’s Tor payment site, where the threat actors sought 1804.0955 BTC ransom or approximately $34,686,000.
