Hackers impersonate KFC to trap woman in a fraud of Rupees 79 Lakhs

A woman from Pune, Maharashtra has fallen prey to a fraud of 79 Lakh Rupees.

Fraudster promised her a KFC franchisee and asked her to transfer the amount for initiation of the process. The incident took place between March and May 2022, however, the complainant registered a case with the cyber police on Friday, 12th August.

According to the police, the complainant is in the real estate business and was searching for a platform to invest money. While researching for investment schemes, she came in contact with a few people who offered to get her a franchise of KFC in Pune.

Police has reported that the amount was asked to be transferred in 4 different bank accounts. Cops are investigating and tracking the accounts.
