The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have successfully dismantled a large cybercrime network by arresting 61 individuals across 14 states during a month-long operation in August. These suspects were involved in a wide range of sophisticated online frauds, including fake investment and trading platforms promising quick returns, bogus insurance policies, fraudulent loan approvals, phishing schemes, OTP scams, and impersonation of government officials or bank representatives.

The network was linked to 132 registered cases, with 30 reported within Telangana. Authorities seized numerous mobile phones, SIM cards, ATM cards, and bank documents used to carry out these crimes, revealing the organized and multi-state nature of the operation.

As a result of swift police action and close coordination with banks and financial institutions, over ₹1.01 crore was recovered and refunded to victims who had lost money to these scams.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant while conducting online financial transactions, advising against sharing sensitive information such as OTPs and encouraging verification of investment and loan offers. They also stressed the importance of reporting suspected frauds promptly to increase the chances of recovery. This crackdown highlights the growing threat of cybercrime in India and underscores the need for enhanced cooperation between law enforcement agencies across states to protect citizens from online fraud.
