Google Play Store ad fraud removal

Google has removed over 350 Android apps from its Play Store due to their involvement in a significant ad-fraud scheme. These apps generated 1.5 billion fake ad bid requests daily, misleading advertisers and draining budgets without delivering real user engagement.

A detailed investigation revealed that these rogue apps, disguised as harmless utilities, ran hidden advertising sessions, tricking ad networks into believing they were reaching real users. The scale of the operation was staggering, potentially costing the digital advertising market hundreds of millions annually.

The fraud was discovered by IAS Threat Lab, which identified abnormal ad traffic patterns. Google has since tightened its security policies and improved Play Protect to prevent similar incidents in the future.
