Jaguar Land Rover Confirms Cyberattack Disrupting Global IT Systems and Production

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the UK-based luxury automaker, has confirmed it suffered a significant cyberattack that disrupted its global IT infrastructure. The company took immediate precautionary measures by shutting down critical systems to contain the breach and protect sensitive data. The incident was detected late Tuesday following unusual network activity that triggered multiple security alerts. While operations have been severely affected, JLR stated there is currently no evidence that customer or employee data was compromised.

The cyberattack has caused widespread disruption across JLR’s manufacturing plants in the UK, Slovakia, China, and Brazil, as well as its extensive dealership network spanning over 100 countries. Production lines, which rely heavily on connected systems for inventory and robotics, have been forced to halt, delaying vehicle assembly and impacting online sales platforms. This disruption comes at a challenging time as JLR works to overcome supply chain issues and ramp up production of its new electric models, including the Jaguar XJ and Land Rover Defender EV.

JLR is collaborating with external cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement agencies to investigate the breach and restore operations safely. The company has pledged transparency and regular updates as it works to resume services. Industry experts warn that automakers are increasingly targeted by sophisticated cyber threats due to their valuable intellectual property and reliance on digital systems. This incident underscores the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity measures and rapid response plans within the automotive sector.
