Cybersecurity company SonicWall has suffered a sophisticated hacking attack
The attack was reported to be executed by highly sophisticated hackers.
The company's secure mobile access 100 series was targeted by the hackers. The secure mobile access 100 is used to simplify end-to-end secure remote access to corporate resources. The company has ensured that its firewall is secure and is not impacted by the attack.
The company suspects that the hackers have exploited “zero day” vulnerability, a newly discovered software flaw in the SMA 100 series product. SMA 100 series is kept under investigation to confirm the extent of damage caused by the attack.
To keep its own customers' networks safe, the vendor has included a series of mitigations in its knowledgebase article. The article contains various measures like deploying a firewall to limit who can interact with SMA devices or disabling access via the NetExtender VPN client to its firewalls.
SonicWall also urged companies to enable two-factor authentication options in its products for admin accounts. Admin accounts are the main target of the hackers as gaining access to them allows hackers to establish themselves in a very powerful position on the network.
NPAV recommends users and organizations to enhance the security of their networks and keep the protocols patched and updated. Install NPAV on your devices to keep them protected from all kinds of cyberattacks.
