Ryuk ransomware attacks leading French IT firm Sopra Steria
A new version of Ryuk ransomware has targeted the French IT firm on 20th October.
The ransomware has disabled a limited portion of its infrastructure, and there’s no indication that its customer’s information system data was damaged or leaked. The company has sent out the virus sample to various cyber security firms so that they can update their software.
Sopra Steria has announced that recovery of their systems might take a few weeks. The attack has made their key systems to go offline and fixing them is going to take some time.
Sopra Steria’s fintech business Sopra Banking Software later confirmed that it was attacked with a new version of Ryuk ransomware. Ryuk has been one of the most dangerous ransomware as it has targeted various established organizations, police departments and other government organizations.
Sopra Steria is one of the leading IT firm and it must have a well structured defense against these kinds of cyber attacks. Ryuk ransomware however has managed to enter the organization which proves the extent of danger it can pose.
