81% of Router Users at Risk: Default Passwords Expose Devices to Hackers
Broadband Genie's 2025 survey of 3,242 users revealed that 81% haven't changed their router's default admin password, exposing devices to hackers. This negligence allows attackers to access networks for surveillance, DNS tampering, malware installation, and botnet creation.

Attackers use credential stuffing and brute-forcing with known defaults, automating scripts to hijack routers and establish persistence. Compromised devices become launchpads for phishing and data theft.

Protect yourself: Change default passwords immediately, enable WPA3 encryption, and keep firmware updated. Regular security audits can prevent these common vulnerabilities.
