iOS 26 Deletes Spyware Evidence by Overwriting Shutdown Logs
Pegasus and Predator spyware have long exploited zero-click vulnerabilities for surveillance, leaving traces in iOS shutdown.log for forensic analysis. However, iOS 26 now overwrites this file on reboot, erasing infection evidence and complicating detection.

Previously, logs appended entries, allowing investigators to trace compromises. Now, malware erasure combined with OS overwriting creates "double erasure," masking attacks effectively.

This change raises concerns for digital evidence and user protection. Users should monitor for unusual behavior, while Apple may need to address this in future updates to aid investigations.
