AI Browsers Trick Paywalls: How They Mimic Humans to Access Content
AI browsing platforms like OpenAI’s Atlas and Perplexity’s Comet are bypassing content paywalls by mimicking human user behavior, posing threats to publishers' revenue. They evade detection by presenting as standard browsers, accessing hidden content and reconstructing articles from web sources.

For client-side paywalls, they read DOM elements; for blocked content, they aggregate info from tweets and syndications. Server-side paywalls provide better protection but aren't foolproof.

Publishers should consider advanced detection, legal measures, and alternative monetization to counter these AI-driven challenges.
