Bridgestone Cyberattack Disrupts North American Manufacturing Facilities

Bridgestone Americas has confirmed a cyberattack affected multiple manufacturing plants across North America, including two in Aiken County, South Carolina. The company launched a thorough forensic investigation and believes it contained the breach early.

Despite the incident, operations continue normally. Joliette Mayor Pierre-Luc Bellerose reported that about 1,400 employees were impacted locally, but Bridgestone assures no employee or customer data was compromised.
To minimize disruption, affected employees could either perform preventive maintenance with full pay or take unpaid leave. Bridgestone emphasized that customer data remains secure, though the investigation is ongoing.

This marks Bridgestone’s second major cyber incident in recent years, highlighting persistent cybersecurity risks in manufacturing. Officials are still assessing the full impact and recovery timeline, with local authorities ready to assist if needed.
Bridgestone’s swift response underscores the importance of strong cybersecurity measures in industrial operations.
