Everest Ransomware Group Claims Major Data Breach at BMW, Threatens to Leak Sensitive Files

The Everest ransomware group claims to have breached BMW, stealing 600,000 lines of sensitive internal documents including audit reports, financial records, and engineering files. The group posted BMW on its leak site with a countdown timer, threatening to release the data unless demands are met.

While the authenticity of the stolen data is unverified, this attack highlights the growing ransomware threat to the automotive industry, risking competitive secrets and investor confidence. BMW has not yet confirmed the breach or disclosed its response.

Experts advise against paying ransoms and recommend working with law enforcement and cybersecurity professionals to manage the incident and strengthen defenses.
