WhatsApp Introduces Warning Before Chats With Unknown Phone Numbers
WhatsApp is rolling out a new security feature for Android and iOS that warns users before they start a conversation with an unknown phone number. The alert displays details such as the number's registered country, whether it is saved as a contact, and if any mutual groups exist, helping users identify potential scam attempts.

The new warning appears before a chat begins, giving users the option to continue or cancel the conversation without notifying the other person. The feature is designed to prevent common scams where fraudsters pretend to have changed their phone number or impersonate trusted contacts.
Although this added security layer helps reduce the risk of messaging scams, users should still verify unknown contacts through trusted channels and avoid sharing sensitive information without confirmation.
