AWS Outage: DNS Issues Disrupt Services Worldwide
Amazon Web Services suffered a major outage starting October 19, 2025, at 11:49 PM PDT in the US-EAST-1 region, causing elevated errors across services like DynamoDB and affecting Amazon.com, Netflix, and others. Millions faced disruptions in shopping, streaming, and cloud access.

The root cause was DNS resolution failures, fixed by 2:24 AM PDT, with full recovery by 3:01 PM PDT after restricting EC2 launches to stabilize systems. No cyberattack was involved, but it exposed DNS vulnerabilities in cloud ecosystems.

Learn from this: Diversify infrastructure, use failover mechanisms, and monitor AWS Health Dashboard for updates to build resilience against similar incidents.
