Cognizant TriZetto Data Breach Exposes Health Data of 3.4 Million Patients
Cognizant subsidiary TriZetto has disclosed a major data breach that exposed the sensitive health information of 3,433,965 patients. The breach occurred after attackers gained unauthorized access to the company’s external systems and extracted personal identifiers along with healthcare-related data. The incident highlights the growing cybersecurity risks facing healthcare supply chains and third-party technology providers.

The intrusion reportedly began on November 19, 2024, but it was not discovered until November 28, 2025, allowing attackers to remain inside the network for more than a year. According to the breach notification filed with the Maine Office of the Attorney General on February 6, 2026, the compromised data includes patient names and other sensitive information. The filing noted that 1,128 affected individuals are residents of Maine, though millions of patients nationwide were impacted.

After identifying the breach, TriZetto launched an incident response investigation and began notifying affected individuals. The company has partnered with Kroll to provide 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection. Security experts advise impacted patients to monitor medical billing statements and consider freezing their credit reports to reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud.
