Cyberattack Disrupts Russia's Aeroflot Operations: Pro-Ukrainian Hackers Claim Responsibility

Aeroflot, Russia's flagship airline, canceled over 40 flights on Monday due to a significant cyberattack that compromised its information systems. The pro-Ukrainian hacker group Silent Crow claimed responsibility for the disruption, which affected both domestic and international routes, particularly at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that unauthorized access by hackers caused the failure in Aeroflot’s digital infrastructure, leading to numerous cancellations and delays during peak holiday travel. Flights to destinations like Minsk and Yerevan were among those affected.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the increasing threat posed by hackers, stating that it is a concern for all major service providers. Silent Crow, in a statement linked to the Belarusian group Cyberpartisans BY, attributed the attack to Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, declaring, “Glory to Ukraine! Long live Belarus!”
