Tollywood Stars Under ED Investigation for Betting App Scam: Vijay Deverakonda and Prakash Raj Involved

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated an investigation into a high-profile betting app scam following a Cyberabad police FIR. Among the 29 accused are notable film and TV personalities, including Vijay Deverakonda (famous for "Arjun Reddy"), Prakash Raj (known as Jaykant Shikre from "Singham"), Rana Daggubati, Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and anchor Srimukhi.

The Allegations
These celebrities allegedly promoted betting apps like A23, JeetWin, FairPlay, and Junglee Rummy through paid campaigns and online advertisements. The FIR, filed in March 2024, accuses them of violating multiple legal provisions, including the Bharat Nyay Sanhita and the Telangana State Gaming Act, by driving traffic to these gambling platforms.

Celebrity Responses
In response to the allegations, Prakash Raj stated he had promoted a gaming app in 2016 but withdrew in 2017 upon realizing its impropriety. Rana Daggubati also clarified that his association with Junglee Rummy ended in 2017 and was limited to legal zones, citing the Supreme Court's distinction between skill-based games and gambling.
