Hyderabad-based skincare company, has fallen victim to a ₹12.7 crore cyber scam involving fake Google ads

Hyderabad Skincare Brand Duped in ₹12.7 Crore Cyber Scam A Hyderabad-based skincare company, OSR Ayurvedics, has reportedly fallen victim to a major cyber fraud involving deceptive Google advertisements. The loss? A staggering ₹12.7 crore.
According to the company's complaint, cybercriminals created fake Google Ads mimicking OSR's official branding. Unsuspecting users searching for the company online were tricked into clicking on these fraudulent ads, which led to lookalike websites. These fake sites collected customer details and accepted payments under the guise of legitimate OSR services or products.

The consequences were twofold: not only did customers lose money, but OSR also received backlash from confused and angry consumers — many of whom were unaware they were dealing with imposters.
The company has now approached the Hyderabad Cyber Crime division, urging authorities to investigate the misuse of their brand on ad platforms and take legal action against the culprits.
This incident highlights a growing risk for businesses that rely heavily on digital marketing. The misuse of ad tools like Google Ads to mimic trusted brands has become an alarming trend in cybercrime, demanding stronger safeguards and vigilance.
