Insight Partners Confirms Data Breach Exposing Personal Information After Months-Long Intrusion

Insight Partners, a global venture capital and private equity firm, confirmed a major data breach exposing personal information from its HR and finance systems. The breach began around October 25, 2024, via a sophisticated social engineering attack and went undetected for nearly three months until January 16, 2025, when ransomware was deployed.

During the 83-day intrusion, attackers exfiltrated sensitive data, potentially risking identity theft, though no misuse has been reported. Insight Partners has since contained the breach, fixed system vulnerabilities, rebuilt affected servers, and notified law enforcement and impacted individuals.

The firm is offering free identity theft protection and emphasizes the need for stronger security monitoring and rapid response to combat advanced social engineering threats targeting major organizations.
