ExelaStealer: A New, Affordable Cybercrime Weapon
ExelaStealer, a brand-new information thief, has joined an already crowded field of commercial malware meant to steal sensitive information from infected Windows systems.
Researcher from Fortinet FortiGuard Labs stated, "ExelaStealer is a mostly open-source infostealer with paid customizations available from the threat actor."
ExelaStealer is sold through online forums for cybercrime as well as a specific Telegram channel set up by its owners, who use the online handle quicaxd. A lifetime license for the premium version costs $120, $45 for three months, or $20 per month.
There will probably always be efforts to collect data because it has become a valuable commodity.
Infostealer malware steals data from businesses and individuals that can be used for ransom demands, espionage, and blackmail. ExelaStealer demonstrates that there is still potential for new people to establish themselves and achieve popularity despite the prevalence of infostealers in the wild.
Cybercriminals who want to profit from the B2B sector's resources continue to find it alluring. Organizations in Russia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Brazil, Romania, the United States, India, Morocco, and Greece were the targets of the majority of the attacks.
In a joint statement earlier this week, U.S. cybersecurity and intelligence agencies described the phishing tactics routinely used by bad actors to steal login credentials and distribute malware, underscoring their attempts to pose as a reliable source in order to achieve their objectives.
