Fake Zoom meeting invites are being circulated by hackers as a part of new phishing scam

Malicious and fake Zoom meeting invites are being dropped by hackers into user inboxes.

NPAV research team has recently found a phishing scam that involves fake Zoom invites to trick users into traps. Zoom is being widely used in almost every working sector during this pandemic period.

Zoom is one of the widely used and famous video conferencing application that can be used to easily trick users. The circulated email states that the user has been invited to a Zoom meeting dated Friday, 24th July, 2020 at 13:00.

The email describes the date and time very precisely and requests users to accept meeting information through their email ids. Once the user clicks on meeting information option provided in the email, an Excel powered web page demanding email and password of the user is opened.

The web page is malicious and hacker controlled. Entering any information in the web page will compromise user safety as hackers will have full access of the information which can be used by them to launch various cyber attacks.
