Indian Bank Warns of Fake LPG Payment and KYC Scams Targeting Customers

Indian Bank has issued a cybersecurity alert warning customers about a surge in fake LPG payment and KYC update scams. Cybercriminals are impersonating major gas providers like Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas, sending urgent messages via SMS and WhatsApp to trick users into revealing sensitive banking information.

These messages create panic by claiming gas connections will be suspended unless users complete KYC updates or make immediate payments. Victims are redirected to fake websites or asked to install malicious apps, leading to theft of banking credentials, UPI PINs, and OTPs. In some cases, scammers even pose as bank officials to gain trust and execute fraud.

Authorities have reported multiple complaints linked to this campaign, highlighting its rapid spread. Users are strongly advised to avoid clicking suspicious links, never share sensitive information, and verify requests only through official channels.
