Lucknow police have dismantled a significant online betting and fraud operation, seizing ₹1.07 crore in cash and 103 mobile devices. Sixteen individuals were arrested during coordinated raids at a flat in Jankipuram’s Smriti Apartments, linked to a scam run through a fake betting app called “Lotus Gaming.”

The operation utilized Telegram channels to lure victims with promises of quick returns, only to siphon off their deposits into fraudulent accounts.

Key Findings
- The police recovered over ₹1 crore in cash, 79 ATM cards, 22 bank passbooks, 13 cheque books, a POS machine, and forged documents.
- The suspects, primarily from Chhattisgarh and Gujarat, face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act.
- The scam involved two tiers: young operatives recruiting users and backend controllers laundering money through ATMs and UPI transfers, often converting it to cryptocurrency.
