Phishing emails with fake email clustering alerts are being used by hackers to steal login credentials

NPAV cybersecurity research team has recently found a new phishing campaign targeting users.

Phishing emails with fake email clustering alerts are being circulated by hackers to trap users. The emails state that a server reboot has caused email clustering and the targeted user has multiple pending emails.

If the user clicks on the “Release Pending messages to inbox”, the browser opens the genuine site as mentioned in the email with an additional login dialog. The login dialog has the original icon of the organization whose authentic webpage is loaded in the background.

The genuine site in the background can mislead the users into providing their login details.

NPAV recommends users to stop trusting such emails as they are mere phishing scams. Users must always confirm the authenticity of the webpage before entering any personal information on it. Install NPAV on your devices to keep them protected from all kinds of cyberattacks.
