Cyber security tips from NPAV for safe and secure Online Shopping
Online shopping has made its market in day to day life of many people.
The ease and convenience that online shopping brings to the table is remarkable and comforting. However, their are certain aspects that every user should be aware of to keep themselves safe from frauds and malicious activities. Some of these security tips are mentioned below:
- Shop at secure sites only:
Before entering any personal or financial information, make sure you verify that the site you are on is authentic and secure. The easiest way is to look for “https” at the beginning of a site’s address. If you don’t see the “s” at the end of “http,” then the site is not encrypted and your data will not be secure. - Keep your software updated:
NPAV recommends users to keep all of their software updated and patched. New software updates bring updated security policies and useful patches which will keep your device secure and will protect it from cyber attacks. - Refrain from visiting/clicking links:
There are various links usually displayed on various online shopping platforms. These links generally display luring deals and eye catching discounts. NPAV suggests users to ensure authenticity before visiting these links as they can be used by hackers to infect your device and steal from it. - Shop from trusted apps//websites:
A user must always pick the app or site based on its authenticity and security that it provides to its customers. Downloading an online shopping app must be done from a trusted and secure app store. Third-party stores and apps have higher chances of being fraudulent and malicious. - Use credit cards over debit cards:
Debit cards are directly linked to your bank accounts which can be used to steal a lot of information if compromised. On the other hand credit cards are way more safe than debit cards and even if compromised they will cost you less. - WiFi security:
Make sure the internet connection you are using is secure. Don’t use public Wi-Fi in coffee shops, shopping centres and other places to shop online. Use internet banking or anything else requiring you to send personal information. - Research sellers and retailers online to check their authenticity:
There are several sellers and retailers selling products at various prices. Users must always check the rating of the seller along with the authenticity as there can be various frauds from seller side. User must buy from a trusted seller who has a good user rating. - Use NPAV and enjoy carefree online shopping:
NPAV provides best in class security from all kinds of cyber attacks. All the security issues that arise while you are shopping online can be taken care of by NPAV. Secure shopping and banking modules of NPAV ensure complete protection and privacy of the user.
